Points and coin are two different games, on purpose. PTS ranks the season — zero-sum, someone’s first, someone’s last. Grit Coin (GC) is yours — every rep banks it from their own work, nobody can take it, and it never resets when the board does. It’s the layer that keeps the whole roster playing even when the crown is out of reach. One thing it is not: money. GC is arcade currency — no cash value, not tradeable — spendable only on what your manager stocks.
Top: your wallet. Then How it pays — the exact earning rates, no black box — the reward shelf, and the team’s wallets. Your balance also rides in the app’s top bar on every board.
You never claim coin — it mints on its own whenever new data lands, from what you produced since the last update: each activity pays GC, wins pay out on their points, and hitting your weekly activity target drops a flat bonus on top. Clearing Climb levels mints bonus GC too. The rates on the panel are your team’s real ones (managers can tune the economy — see below).
Per-unit GC runs on the same pace plateau as the leaderboard — the exact same computation, not a second copy of the rule — so volume past 2–3× your pace mints at a discount too, the same way it scores points at a discount. The one payout that stays uncapped is the weekly target bonus: it’s judged on raw volume against your pace, because it’s a goal you either hit or didn’t, not a per-unit rate to farm.
The shelf holds whatever your manager stocked — and the starter shelf shows the trick: the best rewards are often free. Leaving thirty minutes early, skipping a meeting, picking the team lunch, first pick of the hot leads — perks cost the company nothing and reps genuinely chase them.
Hit redeem and the request goes to your manager’s fulfillment queue; the reward itself happens in the real world (Grit Board keeps score, your manager keeps the promise). A declined request refunds your wallet automatically, in full. And a promise worth repeating: spending never touches your rank — the standings sort by points, never by balance, so there is zero penalty for actually using your coin.
And read the tax note in the app before stocking anything with real-world value: rewards you give employees are usually taxable pay, gift cards always are (IRS Pub 15-B), so loop in payroll first. Perks sidestep the whole question — one more reason to start there.
“Can I cash out my GC?” No — by design. Coin is never sold, never redeemable for cash, and never transferable. That’s what keeps it a game (and what keeps it legally simple for your company).
“Does my wallet reset next season?” No. Points rank a season; coin is yours across them. Save up for the big shelf item — that’s the point.
“Why did my last upload mint so much / so little?” Coin pays on what’s new since the previous update, so a big upload after a quiet stretch mints a big batch, and a same-numbers re-upload mints nothing. It always evens out to the same total for the same work.
